Channels & media / INDEPENDENT FIELD GUIDE

Media Tags Feed

Connect written articles, audio episodes, video discussions, and visual explainers without losing the differences between their formats.

One subject. Several ways to experience it.

The core idea

A topic can span multiple media types, but a reader still needs to know what opens next. Keep format, subject, and source in separate fields. A transcript may be a derivative of a recording, while a written analysis can be an independent work discussing that recording.

A workable starting pattern

Give each primary item its own identity and record relationships between derivatives. Use clear link labels such as “read the transcript” or “episode metadata guide” instead of implying unavailable playback. Review captions and excerpts in the context where they will be displayed.

AN EXAMPLE TO THINK THROUGH

An article and a podcast episode about syndication can share a topic archive. Their cards should identify the format so a reader on a quiet commute can choose text without unexpectedly launching media.

What this page does—and does not—offer

TagsFeed does not stream, transcode, or host visitor media. Its content is a collection of written guides about publishing and organization.
